Encapsulate 1500
Lead Paint & Asbestos Encapsulation Coating

DESCRIPTION

AWS Encapsulate 1500 is a high quality, 100% acrylic elastomeric water-based encapsulate coating that provides an economical, effective and safe sealing of lead base paints and asbestos materials. Until 1978, lead and/or asbestos was used in many construction materials, such as roofing products, paint products, ceiling and sound deadening products etc. These materials can still be found in commercial, industrial and residential buildings. Removing these old lead or asbestos materials requires licensed and expensive hazardous materials abatement professionals. In many instances there is no need to remove the old, hazardous materials.

ADVANTAGES

  • Excellent UV resistance.
  • Non-toxic.
  • Mildew-resistant.
  • Protects against the elements.
  • Excellent resistance against chipping, cracking, peeling, abrasion, and movement.

BASIC USES

Encapsulate 1500 is designed for both interior and exterior use over asbestos-based and lead base painted surfaces. AWS 1500 offers great adhesion to galvanized metal, metal, tiles, wood, stucco, concrete, brick, most interior and exterior walls and other surfaces. One of AWS surface primers may be necessary. Please call American WeatherStar for details.

INSTALLATION

All surfaces to be coated must be cleaned properly. Power washing is recommended. Any existing coating must be checked for good adhesion. Before application, any loosely adhered coating must be removed and bare surfaces must be prepared, cleaned and checked for compatibility.

Always follow EPA standards, state, and local guidelines in preparing surfaces for Encapsulate 1500. Encapsulate 1500 is ready to use. Thinning is not required or recommended.

  • Spray: Airless sprayer. 3000 p.s.i., 2 g.p.m. capacity with a #027-#031 tip.
  • Brush: Good quality synthetic bristle brush.
  • Roller: Long nap roller.

Chalky painted surfaces, soft absorbent or powdery surfaces should first be primed with Fabric Bond 930 to provide a firm clean surface for the application of Encapsulate 1500.
